Each treatment applies a residual adulticide to landscaping, shrubs, trees, leaf litter, and the home’s foundation, where adult mosquitoes rest during the day. When conditions call for it, we also treat standing water and other mosquito-breeding sites directly to prevent larvae from developing into adults. The service is structured as a seasonal program with monthly treatments during active months. Mosquito Larva Control
Adult mosquitoes aren’t your only concern. Larvae mature into biting adults within days, so targeting them is a necessary part of any complete mosquito control program.
Mosquito larvae are the second stage of development, emerging from eggs within 24 to 48 hours of being laid. They spend 4 to 14 days in larval form just below the water’s surface, feeding on fungi, algae, and bacteria before developing into pupae and then into adults. Controlling larvae breaks the breeding cycle; adult treatments alone don’t.
The most effective first step is eliminating the standing water where larvae live. Drain buckets, dishes, old tires, and any other containers where water collects so mosquitoes can’t lay eggs and existing larvae can’t develop further.
For water you can’t drain, such as a backyard pond or fountain, mosquito dunks are a practical solution. They dissolve slowly in water and release a biological larvicide that kills mosquito larvae across up to 100 square feet of surface water. The active ingredient is a naturally occurring bacterium that larvae ingest while feeding. Because it’s biological, it isn’t harmful to people, pets, or wildlife, and treated water remains safe for swimming and drinking.
